Luciano Pavarotti was an Italian tenor and one of the most popular contemporary vocal performers in the world of opera and across multiple musical genres. Known for his televised concerts, and as one of the Three Tenors, Pavarotti was also noted for his award-winning charity work for raising money on behalf of refugees and the Red Cross.

He sadly passed away last night at the age of 71 from cancer

I have vivid memories from my youth of World Cup 1990 and the Pavarotti rendition of Nessun Dorma which was adopted as the 1990 World Cup theme.
Arguably now a theme for football in gerneral (or socccer to our american friends)
