i'm planing my next setup. but want some help. with the laptop.
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz
160GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
1Gb DDR2 SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 with 128MB discrete
RGB OUT + S-VIDEO OUT
can somebady tell my if this is going to be good for effect, video, karaoke, ect.
Right now i use HERCULES DJ CONSOLE.
but time ago i use the demo. and is really cool for videos.
I was thinking on the XPONENT + MINIMIXER ROLLS
But by reading all the web. i find out the Icdx very usefull.
so my next setup in the next 2 monht will be this :
2 NUMARK iCDX
1 NUMARK DXM09
1 MARATHON MA-CDJ10W CASE
1 HP dv6000t

I think that 7400Go is not up to the task and you should consider adding more ram to have 2Gb for video is a must.

Any that has better video card like 7600GT or 8600GT or you can take some of the ATI X1x00 series. It has to have its own video memory.

I don't use video but users that do recommend ATI video cards in laptops as they work better.

Ok. just for an Example.
Tests I do Month Ago wiht VDJ 4.3 DEMO.
Test #1 My laptop
Dell Latitude D600
Intel Pentium M 1.4 GHz
512 MB System Memory
40 GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon 9000 AGP, 32MB Video Memory
I install the DEMO, clean WINXP sp2 & last DRIVERS.
May be is cos the DEMO it need less power than teh full version, as i dont know i ask to anybody
WHY THE VIDEOS MIX, EFFECTS, TRANSSITIONS, SCRASH, KEYLOCK..... WORK ??????????????????????
only the KARAOKE CDG don't work good.
THE REST: NO PAUSE. NO CRASH, NOTHING HAPPEND.
but this a very old laptop. and i used it with DJ CONSOLE MP3. for music only
so the specificatios on the HP DV6000T. Is very ahead from my DELL LACTITUDE D600
for the other side

So I need a very good laptop for my next setup. cos at the moment I'm not doing video. but I want to get into the business. I use to play all the videos with WINAMP. with this computer.
and I sow that when I install the DEMO. it read all my Karaoke CDG. but the laptop is only good for the videos not the KARAOKE CDG.
May be is just cos the Demo version. but i want to hear soem advise from users that play this kind of files.
At teh moment I just do mobile DJ. and Local Karaoke bar.
But want to do Mobil Karaoke also.

I just Make another partition and install a clean Xp sp2. drivers and nothing else.
still have problems wiht the KARAOKE VIDEOS on the Laptop. for the MUSIC side . i dont see any diferent on performace. MUSIC VIDEOS are no so good as before on version 4.1. now when I´m playing a video and load the next one. the main screen get frosen for a seconds.
On the other hand at the desktop. Is working good. And i do notice a performace loading songs.
At the VIDEO side. Do not see any diferent all work just perfect.
It was a hard work making partitions for do the test. but is alwasy better that way.
I´m hoping somebody really tell me wahts happend with the GeForce 7400 and Virtual DJ.
Other way I think need to just buy the HP Pavilion DV9500t
This one can be Custumized and i will add the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS 511MB.
This one cost almost double the price..................please some advise !!!!!

I use the 7400 on my lappy, n yeah it may be doing "ok" on the video part but a moment later it will freeze n not smooth, in order to make it smooth u have to turn off the hardware acceleration and that purely video... But if u turn it back on( to use the video effect),, when during the interval sometime the picture will freeze or lagging.:(. so what i mean even tho it can still do video but it still not up to the task...of video mixing..smoothly..The sound/audio ran smootly tho only the images.
But maybe ur desktop setting is ok and werks with these card. But to play it safe just take the ATI ccard or the 8000s series or 7600:)

I will buy the HP dv9500t.
Hope the DiretX 10 dont give me problems wiht the software. cos i hear some one saying 7xxx is better.
