My video and audio output are out of sync. The video looks like the old movies where the translation was well behind the video. Butr when I play the same video through Windows Media Player, it looks fine. I am thinking I need to use a different CODEC or when I ripped the video, it was using a different codec. Any Ideas? I am using a PC (2 GB RAM) with a GIGAPORT sound card to a mixer and S-Video out to my TV.

Try by selecting wmp codec instead of vdj internal codec.

I get this same problem when I am trying to record to my stand alone dvd recorder. I not sure what it is, but it could be that audio travels at a slower rate than the video. (Speed of Light)

Fraid it's more likely to be a computer problem rather than the difference between the speed of light and sound.
Both the picture and sound signals travel down the cables as electricy, (which moves at nearly the speed of light). So it's either the computer making the signals out of sync or the thing you're using to play them on I would guess.
