Top marks to Pern for writing that new mapper for joysticks and gamepads, it's just what many of us have been waiting for - I've yet to find a controller that does EXACTLY what I want, this is an ideal solution for those of us who want a customised control layout.
How about liasing with Pern, and making the joystick mapper an integral part of VDJ, along with the keyboard shortcuts, MIDI control, Hercules, DAC-2/3 etc. This would be a more elegant solution than having to run another program in the background, and would make VDJ untouchable by the competition in terms of control options!

;-)
VDJ is written in C++ and i use C#, so it could more be of an idea exchange. But it is very easy for the Dev Staff to add this functionality to VDJ if they want, 1-2 days work max.
But what i wish for is that VDJ was more open for external programmers/controll builders like me. I think that would result in far more interesting controllers/Devices.
There are much better ways if you want to create your own controller than using a Joystick/Gamepad. The main reason is that the Joystick/Gamepad is a INPUT device only. I'm working on a another simple solution to get USB output also. This will give the options to have LEDs, LCDs etc on the controller also.
So a "ideal" solution in VDJ for people like me would be:
- Support for generic controller mapper.
- Good support for .NET Developers. Including getting Deck/Song info/data.
- MIDI out, MIDI clock.
I'm also working on some advanced features in the mapper so that you should be able to make it do whatever you want. Including support for Jog Wheels.
