话题: Is it necessary to rescan all files after upgrading?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hello
to all VIRTUAL DJ community
I'm faced with a problem, I upgraded my program to version 4.2 and all my music files lost the information, like BPM and Comments.
So I rescan all files for more than a week non stop, after a while I had a problem a had to install a previous version of VIRTUAL 3.3 on my PC, and guess what the same happen.
Can anyone help me so I don't spend another week or more analysing my database again.

make sure that when upgrading you back up your database files

in C:/programfiles/virtualdj

virtualdjdtabase.xml
virtualdjdatabase(yourname).xml
mp3database.txt

sky,
Could you please explain to us the exact purpose of the mp3database and if it is entirely necessary.
What happens if we don't have it? I think I have one in 3.4 but for some reason don't have one in my 4.2 folder? But 4.2 finds the files okay. So when is this mp3database really necessary to have?

Also, what happens with this functionality of this database if our mp3's are stored on an ext. HD (as most of ours are, I imagine) and windows reads these drives as different letters from time to time, i.e., F, G. or H sometimes.
Then again, some may keep this files in a C drive as well.
