you need to help out the helpers......what are your system specs?? what is your video adapter? be specific about what you expect your setup for video to be and be very specific....

That Laptop's Video Card won't support Hardware Accel, also its shared memory, so unfort. it's won't give you what you need for seemless video mixing

just try to connect the vga or dvi or s-video out, to a monitor or tv.
Enable the output from your PC.
Then set it up in VDJ video tab, choose that output.
It will prob work for non accelerated video, but maybe not full power accelerated video with "3D" transition effects. You have lots of super fast ram that your internal gfx card share with system, so maybe you're lucky.. Give it a test;)
If you can't get all the effects and smooth video mix to work good, its because the grahpic card is not a dedicated one, with its own ram. You should use a laptop with an ATI or Nvidia card for that...

External Video cards for laptops are only good for Karaoke and Bitmaps, not for videos
If the mixer isnt MIDI than you cant control the fader with it, but you can configure your sound card to put out side a and b seperate to the mixer

I have the same problem .....my laptop w/ 2 gigs of ram has a crummy default video adapter w/ 128 mb shared ram (Ati radeon express 200). I can't get it to do anything beyond extend the desktop.
As far as I know there is no work around; can't use an external vid adapter w/ a laptop.
So......looks like the desktop backup system is in for a major upgrade......

Yes you can, you need to enter to midi setup and to configure it manually by moving the fader in order that vdj detects the midi knob and linking the audio and video crossfaders.

- Go to remote control
- Enable midi and press config
- Then press add and move the djm 800 crossfader
- From the list select video then video_crossfade and press ok
- Enable linked crossfaders in video menu

Use the XPS 1710 instead, the 1210 videocard won't support VDJ hardware acceleration
