Is it possible, that in a future version of VDJ, we could have the samples on a seperate mixing board on the VDJ interface - so we may pre-listen, fade, control pitch, bpm and the like? I haven't seen VDJ4 yet but can 4 do that ? That addition would seriously give VDJ an advantage over the competition....

It cannot be done within VDJ. There are only controls for 2 decks in the mixer. There is another option to do this: Use an external mixer and a soundcard with 3 stereo outputs. So you use three channels on your mixer: deck 1, deck 2 and samples. You could pre listen, mix and eq on your mixer.
This could be done in version 3.4 as well as 4.1 both using the full version.
