Hey fellow VDJ's, I'm doing a gig tomorrow for a dude that just graduated police acadamy. Most of his family and friends are also in law enforcement. At least its a list. Would I play it. Nope. Have it on hand? For sure. That way if anyone asks for any of the tunes you will have them. Cops are real people too. I played the Toronto Police Association Hall for about 1 year, and I always played dance music. Believe you me, cops can kick up their heels and have fun. The only reason I would play any of those tunes would be a request and a dedication.
Bottom line is to read the crowd like you were doing a wedding. Mix it up. Four or five good fast tunes followed by a 2 tune slow set always worked good for me.
Anyways,its your call. Let us know how it went. I will bet you will have a most excellent time while you.....
