Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my fx5200 video card to something a little more powerful.
These are some specs of my computer.
Intel D865GBF motherboard.
P4 3.2 ghz CPU
2 GB memory
AGP video slot
Waveterminal 192L sound card.
Here are the video cards I was looking at. I'm thinking all of them would work, but maybe some have had experiences with some of them and can tell me their opinions.
SAPPHIRE 100158ADVL Radeon X1600PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card

HIS Hightech H160PRF512AN-R Radeon X1600PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X CrossFire Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814161024
DIAMOND X1600AGP512SB Radeon X1600PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card

HIS Hightech H165PRQ512AN-R Radeon X1650PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X IceQ Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814161032
All of these video cards seem to be almost a match but maybe someone sees something I don't. The only differences I see in some of them is the core clock and memory clock.
Also tell me if you think that I should upgrade my power supply also. I believe I have a 400watt right now.
Thanks!
Allen

Personally I would never recomend a video card with gddr2 memory you really need a core clock of 500 mhz and gddr3 memory for best results.

What video card would you recommend then?
I need an AGP card. Would like 512mb unless you think 256 would work. I saw one card with gddr3 memory, but it was over $700.

wow, i always thought you should stay away from 128mb and get at least a 256mb.
I guess the gddr3 and the core clock being 500 is what the important stuff would be.
Would 256mb be better if i found one with a 500 core clock and gddr3?
I'll keep looking, but I definitely think about that one. looks good
thanks!

VDJ uses video memory diffently then you think. Basiclly the memory part is used for backcue and scratching. Unless you plan on back cueing more then 90 seconds 128mb card will work great. You are going to have a little trouble finding 256 with that core clock and gddr3 memory in agp form. Honestly I would look into a motherboard upgrade soon.

Thanks Cyder! I doubt I will be able to get a new motherboard anytime soon, so on that end I will deal with what I got, but I do appreciate your time for explaining things to me and finding a video card for me that you would recommend based on the specs that I have given you.
I will give your recommendation some serious thought.
Thank you,
Allen
