话题: Need an all-in-one controller/soundcard to work with VDJ - Page: 1

VirtualDJ Support Team

I am using the Hercules DJ Console MKII with VirtualDJ. That coupled with my 'dedicated' laptop is perfect for most of the weddings and parties I regularlly DJ. However, I find myself wanting something that is better quality, maybe something that is more durable. I want to stick with something that is all-in-one.

What is the status of adding naitive (not just MIDI) support for the B-CONTROL DEEJAY BCD2000 and is this controller better quality than the Hercules??

Thank you

I don't like to go on about it, but I didn't find the BCD's soundcard reliable for live performance at all.

Can you elaborate? What is the quality of the sliders, knobs, jog wheels? It has to be better than the Hercules

The build quality of the product was fine. I've heard of people who use it as a midi controller all the time, and it's fantastic, but they use a seperate audio interface/soundcard with it as they can't trust it for live use.

Wireless, c'mon. This thing cost $149.00, and does everything. You are not getting Alps faders with this controller. This thing is a mixer, controller, sound card, and dishwasher. I have headphones, mics. software, sound cards, and shoes that cost more than this. It will probably do what it is suppose to do, but not as well as higher end gear. If you are looking for quality, I don't think this is the unit for you. I don't own it, so don't have any first hand knowledge. However, it has been my experience that, you usually get what you pay for. If you are looking for an economical controller, then go for it. Just don't expect too much.

Apparently Numark has a version of their CM200 mixer with a built in audio interface, so that saves you from having to connect your soundcard to your mixer.

I haven't tried it, but I have used the regular CM200, and it's a fine and versatile mixer if you're not Mr. Anal scratch DJ or anything. And I paid about $300 or something... it's cheap. Maybe that's worth a look.

What other choice do I have? Buy a DAC-3 and use my Maya 44 USB and a mixer?

I had two denon s1000 decks and Time Coded CD's. The denons worked perfect except could not get the cue point right with Virtual DJ so I wound up selling them :-(

Someone needs to come out with a "professional grade" controller that works with VDJ

the hercules is a toy
the behringer is a toy
Had the DAC-2 but wanted more features
XP10's were neat but still made of plastic
two technics 1200's are ideal but usually there is not enough room where I spin
Haven't tried the DAC-3

>USB port for interfacing with HID compatible software (meaning Virtual DJ)

That would appear to be the only upgrade option I have. Guess I will have to wait till they are released.

I was actually thinking about getting the HD Mix
Even the D2 Director would be Nice

However fFrom what I have been told, Numark has NO plans of making either of these compatible with external software

there are many choices around...

The Allan & Heath Xone3d is also a good one, if you are looking for a more robust and pro controller than Hercules mk2

http://www.westenddj.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=XONE3D

Soundcard, controller, mixer... .all in one, at a pro quality... Kinda expensive though.
But not too bad:)

Looks like a nightmare to program and even though it supports MIDI, I bet that not all of the features would be usable with VirtualDJ

Example: With TraktorDJ they only support MIDI. Everything I tried with their software never worked to it's full potential. The DAC-2 is MIDI compatible, however since the program does not support it NAITIVELY, the LCD display would never work, and The LED's would never come on. What a waste!

I REALLY LIKE that VirtualDJ supports numerous controllers NAITIVELY (written to take full advantage of the features of that controller)

When software was written to directly to support a controller, things work the best

true ;)

But I've heard the Xone3d works damn nice with VDJ .....

Allen & Heat even used VDJ to demonstarte the power of it in the beginning

but its WAY too expensive, if u ask me ;) hehe

I just don't see why Denon and Pioneer can't put a damn USB port on all of their CD decks and put out a developers kit so it can work with any software!!

TOTALLY agree!

I've heard Pioneer is going to, mainly to work with the Pioneer DJ software.
Hopefully it will be HID compatible for all software, like Numark is doing

will not start a flame war;) we all know that.. hehe

But hopefully the new range of Numark products comming this summer will be at a real high standard.
The Numark CDX got really good reviews ... so lets hope;)

The rane mixer I'm not sure of.. Might work.. or maybe its "locked" to SSL... ;) hehe

But if you want a good mixer that do work with VDJ :
- Pioneer DJM 800 (midi compatible, and real hardware mixer ..at the same time)
- Nuo4 (same as above)

Buth work great with VDJ... but it does not have a soundcard inside.. Like you want.

Both the Pioneer DJM 800 and the Nuo4 are very nice mixers but neither have a jog wheel or cue/play button (critical for controlling Virtual DJ).

The TTM57SL does have buttons that can be mapped to control the decks, rotary knobs, and an 8-way joystick/transformer switch that could be used to navigate the play list. If only they had thought of Jog Wheels

hehe... true.. ;)

I feel a lot like you... there is not a perfect controller out there (yet).

But I do think that either Numark iCDX + mixer (nuo4 or regular one), or timecode cds with Pioneer CDJs + mixer (say DJM800 for midi, or DJM 600 for no midi), is a real pro setup...

CDJ's + u46dj soundcard work damn nice...

But yeah... for mobile use, and lower-budget investment, some dream controller would be nice.
The Xone3D come close... but what insane price! :)

Hope that controller will work with VDJ.. its Numark... ;) hehe.. hmmm.... .maybe ;)
