Ok, I placed the order for my laptop and u46dj today (as well as usb hub and cooling pad), and now I'm on to shopping for new turntables. I noticed the tt500s don't appear to come with cartridges, but I can get a pair of the tt500s on ebay for around $450 and a pair of stanton 680hps for around $100. Has anybody here used either those tables or cartridges? It looks like a good deal with plenty of torque and pitch range, but once again I'd like some other input in case I'm overlooking something. Thanks.
Just an update here in case any body cares..lol. I went with the dell inspiron 130b, a gb RAM, 80 gb HD, pentium m 1.80 ghz, dvd+-r dl drive. I'm pretty excited, I can't wait to get everything & set it all up;^]

TT's have come along way since technics lost the exlusive patent to there motor all they have is the magnet on the platter...i have 2 1200's and 2 gemini (yes gemini) pt2410 the torque on the gemini's is stronger than the 1200's before anyone says it the 1200's are from 1989 im sure the gemin's wont last that long if my 1 1/2 year old keeps thinking she's the dj and scrathing ...back to the point the 1200's have new motors so there no real excuse for the pt2410's to beat the torque. it just goes to show how far along all the tt's have come

There are a few users here using the TT500 turntables and you are right. They do NOT come with cartridges and needles. Same with the TTx. If you are looking for needles and cartridges I'm positive many here will disagree on many although here are some top choices.

now the real choice is weither you want a spheircal or elliptical needle. That choice has been battled through and through and each DJ has their own preferences. They both have their ups and downs.

I have the 500's and have nothing but good things to say about them. The carts don't come with it as White Devil mentioned. I use the ol' classic stanton 500AL's and they've worked great for about a year now. If you're not going to use vinyl, just TCV, then I'm not sure you have to spend a lot on the higher end carts. I've asked that question many times on many forums and nobody has ever really answered it. All the cart does with TCV is read the timecode and with anti-skip in VDJ better tracking isn't really as necessary.

I also have these turntables and also have nothing but good to say about them - although mine did come with carts. It all depends who you shop with, retailers want your custom, phone them up and ask them to put something together for you, if throwing in a pair of carts gets you to buy from them rather than their competition at the same price they may well do so.

Sounds good to me, and if that's the case I might just go with a cheaper cartridges. Now I'm having problems finding the u46dj. I placed an order with floridamusiccompany.com but they said it could be months before they get them in as the esi co. in korea hasn't sent any out in months now. I think I'll definatly go with the 500's, it just sucks I may have to wait that long for the u46dj. Oh well, that's life..lol;^]

mine came with carts too, got them as a package with a mixer, cans and carts all bundled for £500
the torque is amazing, spin up and brake is like 1/10 of a rotation, with a bit of timing you can drop in with the play button
and if thats too unnatural you can make it long like a 1200 lol, fully adjustable up to 2 secs

good thing, I bought em tonight;^] I might have to sacrifice the 680hps still to get the u46dj, but I figure at the worst I already have one gemini cn1000, so I could just get a second one for around $30, but I'm gonna look on ebay for a cheaper (around $30-$40) twin pack maybe a pair of stantons, it seems to me they have a better reputation for durability, but I'm haven't had much experiance with non gemini tt's.
