can someone tell me win98 or xp and why?
well xp is propably better but when i run vdj on win98 its more stable and the visual wave form is smoother
does anyone know y ??

Smokey, the WinXP is based on Win2K, and therefore a lot more stable. But it also is more demanding concerning the hardware. Maybe Win2000 is a bit less demanding concerning the hardware, but I can´t tell for sure.
Personally I would not recommend using Win98 anymore, for many reasons. Nowadays one of the most important is the one Fruit gave you. Since it is not supported anymore, there are not going to be any fixes to vulnerabilites. If you use a system only (and really only) for VDJ, you might as well consider using Win98. But then again, if you have any problems with drivers or anything, you probably won´t find that much support anymore.
Overall:
- Go for WinXP if possible, if not try Win98 but drop it the first time you run into trouble with it.

I heard from Bruno Rod that Win2003 server is about the same as WinXP, but runs better with VDJ, demanding less ressources than WinXP.

I use Windows XP on my workstation for my job and Windows XP seems verys stable.

Windows XP is far more stable than win98 for most applications, and even though WinXP demands more for the computer, software such as XPLite lets you uninstall some microsoft software that comes with windows (and that sometimes runs in the background).
I would recommend that you use WinXP, and use XPLite to make it "lighter". Also, "TweakXP" by TotalIdea lets you optimize your WinXP installation (for better performance).
