Topic: Skipping

My songs are skipping. I made sure my soundcard was selected. It is a creative sound blaster. I also put DirectX 8.0 on my computer as well. I have 128 of memory and I am using Windows ME. I have a Pentium 4 (HP 9870). My songs continue to skip. What should I do? Should I use a different soundcard? If so, what do you recommend? I like the product but the skips are driving my crazy. Please help!

D/l the last DirectX version 8.1b
 
I downloaded the 8.1b version and it helped some. I also did an update for my soundcard. I got a reply from Atomixmp3 and they told me to unload all resident softwares. Are they saying that my computer should only be exclusively used for Atomix? What do they mean by resident softwares? They used an example to unload my virus scanners.
 
You only have 128 MB of RAM, so that's why I told you to unload temporary these softwares, to see if it works better.
