While playing around with natural language scripting for custom buttons and mapped buttons, I had tested a few custom actions and mappings and had an issue where one of them just refused to stop - and unfortunately I forgot to screenshot or save the text I entered - but while the actions I put in played out perfectly, they wouldn't stop and i had to close the software to get it to stop playing
dredging up from memory it went:
Start Automix, play the first 10 seconds of the track, activate flanger effect , beatmatch and fade to next song, and continue these actions till the end of the Automix list.
so i pressed the custom button and it did exactly what i wanted... EXCEPT stopping at end of list and then when i turned off Automix it started up again in 10 secnds. i pressed stop, emptied the deck...and next thing i know it loaded deck and started all over... with the Custom button lit up.
ended up having to close the software to get it to stop and then when i activated it again - same result.
tried to edit button to repeat but couldn't remember exact wording and forgot to save it.
next experiments used a mapped Shift+1 to activate and then things got a little weirder - somehow managed to turn on dual deck Automixing in the process, and then somehow caused single deck effects instead of from Master video effects.
What made things even more confusing? Changing the custom button while it was happening didn't work either even though it had said it saved the changes. THAT was what made me want to ask here.
also had a couple issues activating some of the effects - how exact does the wording have to be for effects and samples? For samples do we need to use quotation marks, just have the sample name typed in, or does it need a folder name as well.
experimented with it playing a sample for a specific time and it only worked correctly once - played the sample for 10 seconds then turned it off. other attempts to do this combined with other things were less successful: it triggered the sample and then never turned off while the other actions worked.
so... lots of user error or some things that need to be looked at?
in future will be entering text in Notepad then copy-paste into mapping editor so i can save results that work - or if they don't work so they can be dissected.
