Hi
If i run virtual dj without my Pioneer DDJ RR connected then when I map a video to a sample it runs on the the master when selected/played.
Once I connect the DDJ RR the this does not work so when the sample plays it does not show on the screen..
Any ideas..??

Most likely you have the SAMPLER VOLUME knob on your DDJ-RR to minimum (or very low position), and when the DDJ-RR initializes, it sends the fader's position to VDJ, so it sets its Volume to 0 or very low. So try to increase the SAMPLER VOL knob and see if that works.
Also if you dont want the Video on Sampler to follow its Volume level (e.g. have 50% for its Audio , but Video show without fade), you can disable the setting samplerVideoVolumelink from VDJ Settings->OPTIONS tab
