Hi Guys,
I currently utilize a Denon x-5000 mixer and a HC-4500 midi controller. I am a mobile DJ and I play off of PRX715's for the most part. My question is this:
Do I get better sound quality with my current set up of having the x5000 mixer and HC4500 midi VS. Getting the new Denon MC6000 MK2? It seems as though I can do everything on the MK2 that I can on my current set up. What are the pros/cons to making the switch and will sound quality be affected?
Thanks!!

Assuming you mean X500 (I can't find any info on an X5000) then IMO it'd be better to stick with what you have rather than get an MC6000 mkII.
What you have is solid hardware encased in rugged metal, designed to last. The MC6000 will be mostly plastic, and the mixing is done in the software (the 6000 is just a controller) so the quality may possibly be lower, as it relies on the software processing.
There are controllers out there which are more ruggedly built and have all the analog ins and outs of a hardware mixer - but the 6000 is not one of them. At the moment I would say that PIoneer are the leaders in this field with their DDJ-SX2 or RX and the DDJ-SZ or RZ.
Be aware though that Denon are on the verge of announcing some new DJ kit at NAMM at the end of January.
By the way, you should not be using VDJ for mobile DJ work unless you have purchased either a Pro (Infinity) license or a Pro subscription.

The sound quality will probably remain the same.
I used to carry 2x Denon dns1200 players and a x100 mixer, but for a year now- I'm using mc6000 with one dns1200 player as backup.
Personally, no difference in sound and less hassle with driver.
It's the same company, same DA converters, same logic (hc4500 uses its soundcard as does mc6000).
MC6000 is ALL metal, and a standalone mixer!! There are known isuess with buttons not reacting as good as on a denon cd player- thats true, as I own both. But it's not such a big deal;)
My advise: get a used MC6000 first release, mkII was not a big improvement hardware wise- actually it left some things out.
Or you can wait for the Namm show, to see what have they been cooking at Denon for the last year;) Hope it's a good one...

The mark two? According to internet reviews and comments, there is definitely some plastic involved. My comment regarding the mixer was based on the fact that Denon removed the "external mixer" mode from the mkII - so as I said, the mixing is done in the software (via MIDI control from the 6000).

As stated, I think 6000mk1 is a better choice hardware wise. And it's been proven as a workhorse over the years, especially for the mobile Dj.
Don't wont to go in too much details, as I like to change equipment when ever possible and logical.
I've worked on Pioneer products, and they also have their "quirks". For the last cca. 7 years there has been a hyperproduction of dj equipment- it's hard to follow all of the details. For me, the best dj solutions are yet to come- maybe even this year. Embedded hardware, cross software support,....
It's definetly interesting to see what/who's next....

MK1 also has DVS possibility, just not marketed by Denon. It was an after release users hack!
