I have been creating my own Def/Mapper files for my device (launchpad).
The Device xml file is not reading and sticking the "default" def.
Is their a way to override the basic DEF vdj8 has?

You need to rename your definition file and add "force-" before the name.
Therefore you definition file should look like force-novation launchpad.xml
Therefore you definition file should look like force-novation launchpad.xml

Giving it a go a few times.
Each button is labeled "1.1" as default.
My Def is labeled "B-1.1"
Nothing changes when i use the force- on the DEF xml file.

Basically I think you need to have a PRO license in order to have custom definitions working...
