Apologies for the lack of knowledge but we recently purchased a Numark Mixtrac Pro deck and a set of Ekho Max6 speaker for our son (Christmas present)
He uses Traktor LE software on his laptop - connects to the Numark via USB
What type of cable do we need to connect the Numark to the Ekho speakers or do we need to purchase an amplifier to sit in between
I do not want to spend a great deal as my son (12 year old) is new to DJing

Yes you'll need an amplifier as those are passive speakers.
From what I can see they are rated 125W RMS, but if they'll only be used at home then it would probably be cheaper to buy a small hi-fi style amp rather than a 125W per channel power amp.
To be honest it would be better (for what an amp will cost) to buy some small powered "studio monitor" speakers, as they would be far better quality than these Ekho things, and connect directly from the Numark output.
