Hey all,

I've been playing with freestyler for a day and a half now and have created a few scenes that I now want triggered during specific songs.

I have watched the DJ Cheers videos numerous times and I think I'm doing everything right but when the cue point comes and goes nothing happens.

Is there some documentation on this plugin that explains how it works?

I have created the cue point and called it fs: 272,255 as the video tells you to but nothing is happening.

Any direction would be most appreciated. I am doing this in Virtual DJ Pro

Just a followup.

I have since realized that DJ Cheers video is wrong. There is no space after the : and when you are running vdj and freestyler on the same PC I understand that the command should be fs:272,1

I have done that.... no lights...

To confirm I have dropped the same lighting program into the page_1 view on the cue section in freestyler and each one starts the lights no problem when they are clicked directly. But they get no lovin' from VDJ

I have also turned off Windows Firewall and this is in VDJ 7 Pro (7.4.1)

Any help would be most appreciated. I've spent the whole day on this.
 
So just to confirm:

You've installed this plugin:

http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/15834/freestyler.html

and in the plugin settings you've enabled "Monitor Cue Points", then created a cue point with the name FS:272,1 which will send the command "Toggle Cuelist 1".

Have you tested to see if the grid gets passed as sound to light trigger?

Yes, that is the plugin I've installed.

I have not performed that test. Can you tell me how to do that?
 
Make sure you have something in FreeStyler set up to react to "Sound to light" then enable "Monitor Grid" in the FreeStyler plugin. Play a song and see if FreeStyler reacts.

You could always try the network method too - enable the network and set the IP address to 127.0.0.1.
 
Ok S2L with monitor grid WORKS.

I also have the network set to 127.0.0.1

I have upper cue point set to 99. VDJ says it is monitoring cues 1-99

I have mapped the letter 'A' key to mark cue 5 and have set_cue 5 & cue_name as the action in mapper.

When I hit A it asks me to enter the cue name and I enter fs:272,1
 
SOLVED

fs must be CAPATALIZED!


FS:272,1 is he correct syntax. fs:272,1 will NOT work.

So..... I spent 5 hours yesterday troubleshooting.... capital letters. sigh.

Anyway, so happy to have figured it out.

I may record a HOWTO video after this ordeal.
