Topic: 24 hour clock - Page: 1

If I can ask one question about 8 and maybe if some one knows something I don't about 7.4 I hate the fact that the clock is 24 hours and no option to change to 12. Is this something that we can change? I ask because of the picture on the DigitalDJtips site shows a nice clear picture of the 8 skin and the clock say 15:xx:xx.

You can change the clock in most skins just by clicking on it. It will go to a 12 hour clock. If you edit the skin file, you can make it default. 


%fullhour display the time as HH:MM:SS
%hour display as HH:MM
%hour12 display time as AM/PM
 
Using the default skin by clicking on the clock it doesn't work with every laptop.
 
If I'm correct it's not the type of laptop, but the resolution that it is using for the display. Clicking the clock may not work.
Modifying the skin should do the trick. Then it would always be 12 hr., no clicking needed.

Just for clarification, you need to modify the XML for the skin - not the bitmap. It's fairly easy to do. Just remember to keep a backup of your modified version.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the laptop. It is down to who ever designed the skin and how they implemented the code.

Correct, best bet is just move the option you want to the top of the list, then the over options are there (just in case):

<textzone>
<size width="x" height="x"/>
<pos x="x" y="x"/>
<text font="arial" size="12" align="center" format="%hour12"/>
<text2 font="arial" size="12" align="center" format="%hour"/>
<text3 font="arial" size="12" align="center" format="%fullhour"/>
</textzone>

If you copy and paste the bit in bold into the <textzone> in the skin you want to modify you'll be good to go.

As as Groovin' said - all in the XML.

It may not have something to do with the laptop but maybe a VDJ teamer can step in and then explain to me and djtouchdan why it doesn't work on my laptop with the "default" skin as I mentioned in my message that djtouchdan highlighted in his text. Un-confuse me please...
 
For some reason the code has been missed from some of the default skins.

I understand what your saying but the resolution/screen size is irrelevant.
 
Give me default skin that has the code djtouchdan and I'll try it. I tried every skin and skin resolution and the same result. I have had VDJ installed on many laptops in the last 6 months and the one I use now is the only one where the clock won't change to 12 hour. I've installed VDJ FREE on many laptops to show people the product and I never have a problem showing them the clock changes. We don't use 24 hours in Canada unless you are in the army... I requested this many, many moons ago and it came out in the next update
 
Im on windows 7 and I change it every time I dj by right clicking in the 24hr clock area and changing it to regular time. I use a laptop.
 
Using the 2 deck default skin, you can click to change in the following resolutions:

1024*600
1024*768
1440*900
1600*900
1920*1080
1920*1200

So for some reason all the Default 2 Deck Skins 1280x? only show 24hrs.

All of the 4 deck and the 6 deck default skins work also.

Ya, your right that the 4 deck on this laptop that I'm using only changes the 24 hour to 12 and the 2 deck one doesn't. Why does the 2 deck change properly on my other laptop ok? I just did a test on both.

Maybe some feedback instead as moderators would be more helpful if you have an answer to what's going on? It's more like your sitting back laughing!

Due to my health I can't wear a watch and the club and other venues I work at has no clock in front of me or in my DJ booth. The clock on VDJ has a purpose or they would have never added it boys.

I am using the default 1280x768 Skin. I guess I really could just switch but this is the one that I feel fits best for my Laptop screen.

So, as stated above, the 1280x???? skins don't have the above code. Would you like to try add it to the XML file for the skin yourself, or would you like help?

I don't have an XML editor but if you guys can tell me a free one that I can download sure. If not then if someone would like to fix it up quick I will replace the original in the zip file and be done with it.

You can use a regular text editor. I use notepad+, but notepad works fine for small files.
