hi. i spent the whole day yesterday trying to setup my 32 bit win 7 laptop with vdjpro and my new (to me) hercules steel using this external usb card:
http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/sound-cards/creative-x-fi-go-pro-913942/review
i used a few configurations including this one
input : none
outputs : headphones
soundcard : 2 cards
master: second card. headphones:first card
1st speakers : usb (creative card)
2nd speakers : laptop card
im experiencing echo / reverb / a noise like a mac truck ticking over !
Is this card incompatible?
many thanks for any replies :)

Please register your Pro serial number to your account http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then download the latest version from the Download Center: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html
If you have not purchased VirtualDJ Pro then please support the software and its future development by purchasing it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html (Especially if you are working DJ and are making money as a result of using it at your gigs.)
If you use two separate sound cards then you may get distortion and other problems if the two cards are not compatible with and/or have different properties to each other. In particular, make sure that they are set to the same bit rate and sample rate, i.e: 44.1Khz 16-bit.
For best results, you should ideally use a proper dedicated professional multi-channel sound card that has been designed for DJ use such as Numark DJIO.
NOTE: Also, please use the correct forum when posting. This is the Mix Lessons forum for help with learning how to mix for beginners. Your question is a hardware technical support question and should be posted in the Hardware Technical Support where it will be seen by more users who may be able to help you and give you a quicker response.

The echo is probably because the two audio interfaces are processing the sound at different speeds (one is slower/faster than the other).
The ideal solution is to use a single card which has multiple outputs and has been designed for professional use (i.e. it has low latency).
Built in sound and cheap consumer kit isn't really suitable because it's only designed for home use where latency doesn't matter.
Consider something like the Numark DJIO or NI Audio 2 DJ.
