I've been using a Numark Mixtrack and I use the browse wheel to find tracks and then push it to select them. To search for a certain artist, song or genre, ect I use the back button, which I have set to the search command, then just type what I'm looking for. Afterwards however I have to click on the track area with my mouse if I want to use any of the mappings I have on my keyboard. If there was a command to set the focus to the track area though, I could turn the browse wheel button into some sort of multibutton and make things much avoid that awkward moment when the mic won't turn on.

But an action for search focus, would be useful to have some visual indication too.
