You could always add 3 states to the Source # button.

using var "state" or something like that.

Then you could use "BLINK" LED for that 3rd state so you know which state your in.

LED = OFF : DECK 1
LED = ON : DECK 3
LED = BLINK : VINYL MODE

Don't have the time right now to code it out for ya, but see what you can come up with and post back here.

All these tips thus far in this thread are well intentioned guys, but I only have the Hercules DJ Control Steel (offshoot of the RMX, but with no built in sound card). And therefore I am still wishing for some tips on how to do this same thing (i.e., 4-deck mode) with the Control Steel. The Steel does not house "Source" buttons.

Anyone else here trying to get this to work the Steel??

Is there not another button You could use? I'm thinking about swappin from source to
Pitch reset as it's a button i never use.
 
There's no Pitch Reset button on the Control Steel.
 
use kill buttons, or the up, down, left, right keys.
 
How do you set the effects for deck 3&4 on the 1-6 buttons they only apply to my deck 1 and 2?
 
Try Config>Mappers then the button for mapper settings should let you choose left - right rather than 1 - 2
 
WHOA!! just encountered something major while using this config. it's happened to me 3 times so far. twice last night and once again just right now. can't seem to figure out what the problem is though. i think i might have boiled it down to something with the cue selects button and something to do with the crossfader. it's happened to me once where i switched from deck 2 to deck 4 and was cueing up deck 2. when i switched to deck 4 the output music got REALLY CHOPPY, laggy, "clicky" and unenjoyable and tried troubleshooting it on the fly in about a minute. things just got worse and the music kept playing really shitty and VDJ froze. when i switched to deck 4, neither of my cue select buttons were lit up causing me to think that it had something to do with cueing up music. but the other 2 times i've done the same scenario plenty of times and nothing. don't know what the hell happened.

now on to the other 2 times. what happened here was i was just moving the crossfader and the same choppy "clicky" laggy unenjoyable sound came out. this time i didn't do anything to see if VDJ would figure it out on it's own and go back to normal. it did, but then once i moved the crossfader again, same thing. is anybody else encountering this? doesn't seem like there's any rhyme or reason to why this happens. it doesn't do this everytime i move the crossfader. really irritating.
 
I have a queation and an answer. To the person who's sound gets garbled, that usually happens when too many PFL's are simultaneously selected. What I mean is if you're running more than 2 decks, like I am you're likely to have garbled sound if you're listening to the PFL of more than 1 deck/ the preview channel.

Also my question is, is there a way that I can cycle the skin_panel, for my active deck? I don't want to have to map 12 different buttons to simple toggle which skin panel I want to see on individual decks. If possible I'm looking to use one of the 6 buttons, and use the scratch as a shift button as I have 6 effects mapped to the 6 buttons.

I was looking for a way to make the MIC input also record when I'm recording a mix as mp3.

I found a way to do it (even though it doesn't sound good, the mic comes in too low even with maxed out volume)

Now, for some reason my BEATLOCK or keylock function won't work! Help!
 
can someone help me map my effects to buttons and to map the jogwheel to be able to control the effect when the effect button is held down i have an rmx with vdj 7
 
Since I don't know VDJ Script that well, can someone post a revision of this code:

action_deck 1 ? deck 1 leftdeck ? deck 3 leftdeck : on & deck 1 leftdeck : deck 2 rightdeck ? deck 4 rightdeck : on & deck 2 rightdeck

that would allow me to use 2 time codes with the 4 decks. Pretty much what I am looking for is the same functionality the above code gives but expanded into time codes.

Literally what I"m looking to do is have my turntables (only 2 of them) be able to control all 4 virtual decks. So when I press the source button source button the time code now controls the deck on it's respective side. So one time code would be able to toggle between decks 1 &3 while the other would toggle between decks 2 & 4, exactly how this works.

MAP 1 BUTTON WITH THIS
"deck 1 timecode_active on ? deck 1 timecode_active off & deck 3 timecode_active on & deck 3 rightdeck & deck 3 select : deck 3 timecode_active on ? deck 3 timecode_active off & deck 1 timecode_active on & deck 1 rightdeck & deck 1 select"

AND ANOTHER WITH THIS
"deck 2 timecode_active on ? deck 2 timecode_active off & deck 4 timecode_active on & deck 4 rightdeck & deck 4 select : deck 4 timecode_active on ? deck 4 timecode_active off & deck 2 timecode_active on & deck 2 rightdeck & deck 2 select"

Hey PPLs, I have the same setup. However, I have a mbox mini where I'm trying to use it in the adv setup where I can use it to record my sessions. I want to use my microphone, speakers, headphones. RMX as you know don't allow you to record using a microphone and I was wondering if i routed the sounds thru the mbox so I can record w/ out a problem.
