I just started broadcasting live today and I had a quick question. In my mixes I use songs that I buy from Itunes that are not DRM protected. Can I use these songs in my live mixes without risking being sued (copyright infringement)? Do I have to use my own music? If so, how do I make my own music?

Technically, yes (you can do it without being sued). Any online radio station, just like real radio stations, is supposed to buy licensing provided by organizations like ASCAP and BMI. It is THEIR job to manage the copyrights, not yours. As long as you purchased your music, you should be fine. Most online radio stations arent that big so most people dont care, but technically, its the radio stations job (whether its the ISP, host, administrator, etc) job to monitor it, NOT YOURS. This is for the US, and Im assuming (cant see right now) thats where you are from
