Oh, I know he's a joker, which is why I said what I said, kind of like a pun, based on him saying we're "fags"...No offense to anyone else, just a joke between DJ's.

It was asked earlier if I can upgrade for $50 why would I consider a whole new platform. Well, the answer to that is this. Yes, $50 is the cheaper option to stay current. However if I buy into another platform, I still have the Numark 5.2 license. If I am only paying $150 more for Tracktor and I can have both platforms... do I get more out of that $200 than that $50? But I am going to stop, think, and research if I have to get the credit card out again.
The reason I chose a 100% Numark solution (I have all Numark hardware: DCM2, DJIO, and PPD9000 Mixer, as well as the D2 for backup) in the first place was to avoid finger pointing between the hardware and software vendor. If something didnt work, Numark owned getting ti resolved for me. No trying to rig up a conference call between Pioneer and Native Instruments or bouncing between support lines.
Additionally, seeing the $50 upgrade for Cue users seems to reinforce the errie feeling we all have that the "free" Numark Cue 6.0 upgrade is not coming. I have had this feeling for a while... because I walkin into Guitar Center and all they carry on the shelves now is Serato or Tracktor. You ask what they prefer and none of them have used VDJ/Cue.
Atomix, No offense, honestly the $50 upgrade is a decent offer... it is better than buying the full version all over again. In fact any other music program upgrade has always been at least 3 digits! So I do not want this feedback to not acknowledge you at least tried to meet us half way. :)
What I think would be helpful would be for one of the moderators to post what really is gained by going from Cue 5.2 to VDJ 6.0. Is it the same as the VDJ 5.2 user going to 6.0? Or is it more than just the 're-branding." That would help us understand why Cue licenses are worth less than the VDJ license. And I can read between the lines when I see a rebranded product. It normally means Numark does a revenue share with Atomix. Therefore to make Atomix whole, they require a $50 upgrade fee for Numark Cue users who wish to go to Atomix VDJ. As a business owner, it makes sense to me. It just does not make us feel any less let down.

In defence, this 49.00 offer is nothing new. This has been in affect for some time now ( almost a year ) I think because I've been considering switching for at least that long.
Since Cue was a perfectly good program, I really didn't have to. I just don't like seeing all the kids on the playground with the latest toy and I'm sitting on sideline. It would be different if I had clue to the ? if / when....
Maybe, Numark is doing the same thing as VDJ and it will just spring it on us... lol GOD I hope not after I whored myself out for the 50 bones.

Though I agree with your sentiments ... we are Atomix Productions and not Numark. And I am sure Numark is appreciative of your dedication to their gear.
We have been offering the 'crossgrade' option for awhile and not just since 6 released. People have had both CUE and VirtualDJ even before v6 came out.
Numark marketed the CUE product .. so I can not speak for their efforts with the retail outlets. VirtualDJ has always been online - no need to talk with retail outlets.
So what happens when someone 'crossgrades' from CUE to VDJ ... or why you should ...
Nothing is effected with your CUE 5.2 install - matter of fact you end up with a benefit that VDJ Users don't have just by installing VDJ. Your CUE installation stays in tack and you can run the 5.2 without any fancy file renaming. For VirtualDJ users they must rename the EXE to a different name, then they can install v6 and have both available. Also, you don't have to remember to put your v6 back to a v5 compatible skin before trying to use v5 again. So, I think there are 2 big benefits over VirtualDJ users.
The last couple days of wait and potential let downs would be over immediately. You would have the greatest version released and would not be bound to any delays in the future.
Again, I understand the frustration ... and as a consumer myself (not someone who works for Atomix) but as a DJ, a person - has anyone contacted them -- djchad72 - you mention that you have dealt with them on other issues with your hardware from them ... what about your software from them ?

I was never really angry with Atomix, it was Numark that I was pissed at. At first though I did believe that Atomix should pick up the slack, but then I realized that by selling the cross-grade for $49, it was their way of picking up the slack. I guess they could have flat out said "nope, you bought CUE, your fault, too bad!"
I'm lovin' it now. Like cstoll said, us Cue/VDJ cross-overs have an advantage, we can revert back to CUE 5.2.1 at the click of the mouse without any extra effort (though at this point I see no reason to do that).
Works for me...

Thanks for your efforts in helping me with my Pioneer CDJ's Chris. I mentioned it on the "Hardware" forum, let me know what else I can help you with on the platter/scratching issue.
You CUE users, step up like I did and leave Numark and their disinterest behind. There is no telling at all if they even plan to update you guys. Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, it seems as though they've gotten into bed with Serato and left us cold. $49 is far cheaper than $299 even though you already bought CUE, Numark kept that money since VDJ licensed it's use to them.

Cstolll - This has been my first week back from vacation at my "day job" and it has been crazy. I have not had time to launch an email or phone call off to Numark to ask. :( The big downer on their support (which is what I think you may be eluding to) is itis like 9 to 4 (US Central time) and when I have called for support on Cue... they seemed to know less then I did about it. I found a bug too, and they did not really even take note.
However I have been checking their website. They sure as heck had plenty of "countdowns" and "coming soon!" propeganda on all their other computer DJ products. It was all over the front of their website when they came out with Cue 5.0. Not seen so much as even a "corner ad" on their site promoting it. One could hope that the reason they are not in the stores anymore is because they were re-boxing for the upgrade?
Finally, thank you for the info on the benefits of upgrading. That is very helpful. I may give it ago. However I may be replacing my hard drive in my laptop for something bigger. That may be a good time to upgrade and install. :) I definately am more "at home" with Cue/VDJ. So I dont really want to start over again. I am just sort of "back in the market" if I do not see anything from Numark. I just like to consider all my options if I am giong to spend anything again. :)

I have one simple question that I need answered... will the VirtualVinyl soundcard work with VDJ 6.0 for Mac (once it's released)? I'm willing to crossgrade if it does.

The 6.0.1 release notes include this:
MAC: fixed VirtualVinyl box detection

In 6.0.1 it does - check the wiki - http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJv6.0.1.html

Thanks so much, what a relief, I can continue to use the VV souncard! As soon as the Mac version of VDJ comes out I will happily pay the extra money to crossgrade.

Ok, since I started this topic earlier this week when VDJ 6.0 released, I was pissed that Numark didn't seem to have any plans to update CUE. Almost a week has gone by and still no one knows anything, Numark hasn't made any formal statements and as a matter of fact no informal ones either. Numark's liaison representative and VDJ forums member "Skyfxl" is noticeably missing.
Fast-forward, I have since as cstoll (Chris) put it, "cross-graded" to VDJ by doling out the fair amount of $49 usd and have been loving it ever since. I am no longer a second rate CUE user!!!
Anyone else make the switch or plan to? I gave up on Numark.
