Hi I love virtualdj with all my heart and its the best dj mixing program in my book.I am a registered user of atomixmp3 from since the era of atomixmp3 productions back in the days, and I must admit that they have improved a whole lot...But I always had one little con with virtualdj from ever since about the scratch sound virtualdj produces.....I notice like for example when you attempt a backspin even with the mouse the sound it produces doesn't compare with real vinyls......For example if you listen to the backspin plugin you will get a perfect example of how tru vinyls sounds when you spin the records backward....I am not critizing virtualdj I love it don't get me wrong..But I have always wished for the sound that comes from it when you do a backspin emulate the sound from real vinyls.....I am not sure if I purchase a high quality soundcard or controller if the sound would change but that is my review of this minor issue right now.....Are their any other dj users that notice this problem or is it just me?

maybe you should consider buying real turntables

Tayla: Razsa was referring to alphaquake's comment.
Ok let's get on topic:
So what you are saying is that backspin plug-in sounds as a real turntable (which is based on
a VDj sound engine, just has a parameter of adjusting speed of the turntable), while VDj itself
doesn't sound like it? I think you should point out that you are using a mouse as a controller
(as I understood), which than shows what you meant to say. Of course you can't make it sound
as good with a mouse, because the movement and speed changes are too rapid, and the decks
correspond directly to those commands, there is no inertia algorithm that would emulate real
gramophone. It was already suggested many times to have that option, but even though it
would be cool to see that within software, I'd still prefer a timecode to have a real feel & sound
(at least as close as you can get with VDj). I guess those who use midi/digital controllers would
definitely benefit from that implementation, if they wanted to simulate TT response without a
need of additional plug-in.
Ps.: Just soundcard change won't help at all, only a timecode control with a good soundcard.

granted, why not insert your serial #? you are missing out on some good stuff, and you might be labeled a crack head.

rasza has got a valid point there, especially about the goodies section...

Well explained Erxon ;).

I don't think I could use the mouse to start a backspin in that way. It would be way too edgy for serious use, but granted, having slowdown/spinup on the decks would be a nice feature.
I'm sure theres probably a plugin to do the spinup effect, but nothing that would emulate the weight of a platter as you span/pulled the record backwards.
On an slightly off note, using the right mouse button on the turntable emulates a slight press on the deck, allowing it to be slowed like you were using a finger to slow it. If this could be extended to add velocity to the motion - that is when you let go of the mouse, for it to continue flowing backwards. I believe this is mostly what you're after... no?

Yes steve that is basically what I was after...like when you spin it backwards and you let go of the mouse its supposed to spin down for itself like real vinyls.haha kinda happy you have an idea of what i am really talking about besides the sound I was refering too which erpox help me to understand...thanks again virtual buddys.

Well with a right algorithm you could come close even with mouse
(naturally not a professional solution, but fun @ home).
I actually like the way OtsTurntables software tries to simulate mouse
scratching, it's a freeware so you can freely check it out on this link.
It doesn't sound professional in any way of course, but it's the way
it handles mouse movement and converts it to smoother response
(and inertia spin up/down) that djchillsound was looking for.

ErXon

Why would you want to scratch with a mouse. Thats what turntables and cdjs are for.
