i think you should ask them that...

the hercules is a midi controller, so its possible to use with any software that supports midi, inkluding Traktor :)

But as your here you might aswell use a decent DJ software ;)

It works great with Traktor for audio only work. VDJ is still better overall though. ;)

I tried my MK2 out on my Mac with Traktor and it FLIES, and I mean FLIES! Absolutely NO stuttering when spinning the jog wheels forward or backward to get through a track. The lack of fluidity i's one thing that really bugs me when using VDJ windows even when I'm just trying to quickly cue up or fast forward/rewind an audio track using the jog wheels.

That probably has to do with the fact that it's running on a much more streamlined OS though. That's why I think that VDJ Mac will trounce VDJ windows in performance once it's released (assuming Atomix can get the video issues resolved). =)

I must say I like Traktor better (pls don't kill me).

Traktor's pretty much dead in the grand scheme of things.

SSL killed them here in the US and VDJ is killing them in the Eastern Hemisphere.

I used FS from 2003 until early last year and jumped that sinking audio only ship and onto the one that's sailing forward, visual and audio mixing.

Everyone has a preference, but your the first person since VDJ4.0 who's come here and said that, so I'm intrigued, what about Taktor do you prefer?

I'll bet he'll say support for 4 decks. ;)

Well VDJ supports that but needs a custom made skin or multi instance.

Really? I wouldn't know because I don't care about 4 deck support so I never looked into it.

I was just thinking about how Traktor differentiated from VDJ. Good to know though. =)

Obviously you would need a skin that visually represents the 4 decks, but don't you need a 4 channel sound card too (or whatever), or is "multi instance" somekind of software bypass for that?

sorry i dint mean to be rude its just that tractor screwed me over royaly their support sucks to high heaven

Sure you'd need 4 channels.

What I like with traktor is that it's foreseeable and that the BPM-engine kicks VDJs ass. Traktors media libary owns all competition for example. All looks and panels give a more professional feeling. But I cant figure out how to midi-bind all commands, I've been wandering around in the settings for a while. :/

none taken. :)

i'm a convert from Traktor.....i do agree with you that there browser functionality and idv3 tag support is way better, also VDJ poor use of screen real estate......limited functionality (no stripe) in the headphone player etc......VERY small icons and other problems as a result of the poor use of space....time to lose the turntables and the sidelist they could be in a skin only, no track count,no relocation, etc

the next update needs these items bad......time to get the browser views, idv3 tags and database organized.......xmltool should be a default.......

Yup. Native Instruments, or as I liked to call them once they started pissing me off, NAIVE Instruments and their "support" blows harder than hurricane winds.

I got fed up with them and that's why I was going to switch to SSL. I just happened to stumble across VDJ because I was looking into the Hercules MK2 console for gigs where I don't necessarily have to take turntables. I was just trying to streamline my equipment set-up for the occasions where I have to do mobiles on my own and the Hercules console is a heck of a lot easier to transport than a coffin filled with equipment.

Agreed. Although VDJ 4 is 1000% better aesthetically than VDJ 3.x. I was too embarrassed to even show VDJ to anyone, especially my crew partners or any turntablists/dj's that I was performing with.

I had a good feeling that VDJ would get better though, especially when Numark came into the picture.
