Hello,

I have a few questions:

Can I use VDJ software & VDJ TCV with a Serato box?

What are the differences between the Virtual Vinyl box and the Serato Box?

I gave my 11 year old son my 1200's and an MP22 mixer (I haven't used either in years).

I am dying to get him into TCV DJing.

I was thinking, since I already own VDJ with TCV (but don't have a compatible sound card) maybe I should just buy Serato SL instead of waiting for Virtual Vinyl. This way he can use either software.

Do you think that it's a good idea?

yes you can use the ssl box with vdj

however the virtual vinyl box will be more stable and has more outputs :)

i would recommend waiting for the official box to be released.

I can't wait.
I'm ordering SSL tonight for $500 with free shipping.
If I don't like it, I can always sell it. I've seen people in Ebay get over $400 for their used SSL.

I'd give you $400 for a brand new serato.

yes but it has purposeful limitations such as no needle drop and 16% pitch difference

Indeed. I purchased Serato about a month ago. I like both to tell you the truth. I love the fact that I have both now, and dont regret purchasing them. Virtual Vinyl works great with the Serato box. I cant wait to show you guys the ata case im designing for my system. Im using a dell mini tower with a 256mb video card w/ 2 gigs of ram and a 17" flat panel monitor & Numark DXM09 Mixer all built into one case. It's ganna be sick :)

As a side note, my uncle who has been djing since 1983 (one year after I was born) has been using Serato for the past couple of years, and he said he was majorlly impressed with Virtual Vinyl.

I ordered a brand new SSL off eBay yesterday for $500 and free shipping.

I seen a listing for a used SSL (with nothing else included) that had 17 bids and was going for $480 (some people must be stupid).

I think that Having both SSL and Virtual DJ is a good thing.

I like your setup.
How is the Denon mixer?
Why do you use SSL vinyl with Virtual DJ?

Thanks. Can you explain that in a bit more detail though? I don't really understand the pitch part. By needle drop I presume you mean dropping the needle anywhere on the TCV and it will correspond to that part of the track on VDJ.

I only ask this becasue a friend of mine is getting Serato and I want to try out VDJ TCV without having to go out and spend 100's on gear!! If I like it, then I'll go get it. But as of now, I think it's a hell of a lot to spend on two giant jog wheels!!!

as i understand it, with the SSL vinyls you cant needle drop and the pitch will be 6% slower (for those that are thick this means that if you have your turntable at 0% then VDJ will play back at -6%, if i have it at +3% VDJ will play back at -3%.) naturaly normal virtual DJ vinyl works exactly as your would expect........

that is incorrect. the ssl records are pitched off 6%. this has nothing to do with what pitch "range" you can use with ssl records. it means when you play an ssl record and the pitch on your turntable is sitting on +/- 0%, the track will actually be playing 6% slower in vdj. if you want the track to play at regular speed, you have to move the pitch slider to +6%.

this is why i don't use ssl records with vdj.

Except being able to scratch, would anyone agree with me when I say that TCV is basically to GIANT jog wheels? VERY EXPENSIVE jog wheels at that!
