Has anyone here heard of or used an RF remote control to activate basic functions in VDJ. Imagine being able to play and pause songs while the dancefloor! this would be a priceless feature for weddings and interactive games if you don't have a backman to assist you. I know a DJ program for Mac called MegaSeg can operate with a remote...what about VDJ?

You can build a RF transmitter/receiver by yourself and link it to the computer via the MIDI/Joystick port. I'm designing my own MIDI controller, but it will be wired; however, just program a few microcontrollers to make your dream working...
I'm not good with RF because I haven't studied it yet at school, but I'm quite good with the Microchip PICmicro family. You can write your own protocol to transmit over the radio frequencies and re-encode it to send MIDI commands to the computer. This is the simplest way... Is there someone else who can do something like?

I'm a pretty hands-on guy, but building my own remote does not sound like anything I could attempt. noone in my network knows this either; buying one from somebody is the objective here!

Maplin sell RF remote control kits, might be worth a look...
I modified the RF circuitry from a remote controlled smoke machine to control the music while on stage. It was only one channel, which controlled a relay which in turn signalled the pins on my serial port. This could be interfaced with Winamp to jump to the next track on a playlist. A simple system, but it worked fine for cueing backing tracks and sound effects when doing stage games and the like during the night.
To wire a set of relay contacts to work with VDJ, you could either wire it into a MIDI controller, or modify your computer's keyboard, ie hard-wire it to one of your keyboard's keys, and set up an appropriate shortcut to this key in the config....

if you wire this kit to an old keyboard, you could use 4 functions

I did at one time use of of those remotes that you use with a projector. The range was not that good though.
Son't know how this one works but maybe someone has tried.
