ok so here is where im confused. it seems that all of u guys are using the VDJ+MK2+MIXER, but can i just use the VDJ+MK2? or do i have to use them with a mixer in order for it to work...

Yes, you can use MK2 only because it can work as a mixer but it is not a hardware mixer. when you move sliders/knobs you actually move sliders in VDJ so it is a midi software mixer but works fine.
