I've noticed quite a few posts around the forum in which people are experiencing the same problem in VDJ4 as me. But as yet ive seen no solution or acknowledgement of the problem from the VDJ team.
I know the Dev & Support team will be very busy at this time, but i was hoping you could help in terms of advice for solving the problem or just letting us know that it's a bug so that we dont waste hours trying to fix the unfixable!
The problem is in relation to the automix feature, when i set VDJ to automix playlists, the deck playing the song that can be heard by all will start fading just before it's due to finish (as expected), but then as it crossfades to the opposing deck the track on the opposing deck suddenly jumps to a seemingly random point through the song and then plays normally from that point. It quite often jumps to over three quarters of the way through the song.
This happened straight out of the box after installing VDJ4, hadn't been fiddling with any settings.
Are you aware of this problem? Is it a known bug? or should i persivere with trying to correct?

There are a few ways to fix this
the easiest way is in the config to enable fore fade and set your fade time to 0. Also you can edit the automix points by clicking the bpm and then the automix tab.

Jumping into the song is because of the auto cue maybe... That will cue up to first significant beat.
(this can be set manually btw, but is a bit of work for all your tracks)
Try this :
The FADE LENGHT will set the length of where to start and stop crossfade in the songs.
2-3 seconds is usually nice ;)

Already had Auto_cue disabled and force_fade enabled.
Havent tried changing the BPM - AutoMix Tab, i got the impression that these settings were for the individual track loaded on that Deck (not for all tracks)... I get the problem with every track (with or without Cue points)
The problem would differ from track to track, sometimes it will jump 15 secs forward in a track, others it would upto 4 mins forward (All were lively house tracks- no long quiet sections)
Anyway, i installed VDJ4 as an upgrade, soim gonna try installing it as a fresh install.
Will let you know if this resolves the problem.

Did a bit of testing now. Sorry for not being an Automix user, but gave it a bit of test now.
Seems the only setting that DOES work is this :
FORCFADE : ENABLED
FADE LENGHT : LENGTH INTO SONG in second where crossfade start.
If length is set to ZERO, it will start from the very beginning of song, and play the song to the very end
Auto cue and auto bpm makes no difference if FORCE FADE is set
Works here with that setting.

I have tried with those settings and it doesn't work for me, still jumps.
Infact to give you a little more details it plays the first 0.25 seconds of the track than there is maybe a 0.5 second pause, then it jumps to some 'Random' point in the track and plays normally. Going by the forums, other people have been experiencing the same problem.
I'll try a fresh reinstall, if it works after that, it suggests that it something in the background going wrong rather than setting bet set wrong via the interface.

I have been using those settings for months, the only sad part is that it really waits to the end of the song file even if theres 5 seconds or more of silence, but it works.

Yes that sounds annoying. Had it working in 3.4 ok without any problems, never had any problems with silence at the end of tracks, but maybe that's cuz my tracks haven't got any? havent ever thought to check!
Maybe there is a utility that can be used to automatically 'Crop' audio files?

Very true! I was having similar problems tonight out of the blue.....and when I would load a song into the non-playing deck and try to do anything with it, my sound got distorted and at one point my crowd heard "I'm tellin' you to loosen up my buttons.....ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns.ns... and then it unfroze. Mixed into a Cd....unclicked "safe mode" mixed back into VDJ and the problem went away. Funny though, I was able to use it all week and no problems, until tonight.
I'm guessing with the new sound engine, VDJ 4.0 is very picky when it comes to resources, cpu usage, and overall system bandwith. One of my friends who also upgraded to VDJ 4.0, was having problems when going from music videos to "sonique" and then back to music videos, and his PC is a pentium D 3.0ghz, 2GB ram, SATA 7200 RPM hard drive 100 GB, and a 256MB Nvidia card.... soley used for just VDJ!
Um, I think that if more people comment about their issues, in a more positive manner, in the end all of us will benefit by allowing the Dev team to hear from a broader audience, and hopefully in return, they will release updates that will benefit more than just a few people.

Actually, safe mode is causing issues for my Hercules mk2.
So, I do recommend everybody to use 4.0 at home first, and find the optimal setting, before going to gig. Its totally new soundengine, and features too, so get to know the program well before using live.
And as said above, being new, there might be bugs and issues too, but these will be adressed ..
I can only say I've done extenstive testing at home first, and have now used it live at gigs about 10-12 times, flawlessly..... But I had to test it at home first, finding my optimal settig :)

Hi Norway,
Hope you might be able to help me out. I've written to customer sevice about this issue too, but still havent got any feedback on it.
Im using a hercules DJ console MK1. My problem is that Im unable to adjust the EQ's through my headphones when prelistening or headphonemixing. For example If I kill the BASS or MID on a deck I cant hear it through my headphones, but it is killed on the main output through my speakers.
When using VDJ 3.4 I had no problems at all. Why am I unable to adjust the EQ's through my headphones in VDJ 4.0. I also want to add that I havent had any other problems in regard to Crackling sound, freezing etc in VDJ 4.
I've tried the 2004, 2005, and 2006 drivers for Hercules, while everything is fine in VDJ 3.4 I just cant get the EQ's on the headphones to work on VDJ 4. I've played around with all the performance settings and sound options. Nothing seems to be working.
Being Using VDJ for almost 2 years now and this is the first serious problem tats has occured for me anyway. I understand that VDJ are developing software for Numark now, therefore could the HErcules DJ console have been overlooked, If so will it be fixed anyime soon? I dont expect a complete soulution to this problem, but would really appreciate some sort of feedback as to why this is happening?

Hi there...
Too many users have posted about this using Hercules mk1 to be "your fault", so I think this is a bug.
Its been reported to Dev Team, both the lack of EQing with headphone, and distortion with headphone some others experience (might be related even.. )
So Dev Team is aware of this, and should be fixed real soon....

Yes, at least 4.1 but Dev team will tell us what will be corrected. There is gonna be many updates, can't wait for v5 ;)

I play mostly Techno and Trance. Is there a particular value wich works best when sinking the samples? for example setting it on half a beat or quarter?
As some samples sink perfectly with the track playing on the deck whilst others are not as good.
