do all skins have bpm counters,
would be nice to have one without,
installing them all is lot's of work but If i have to I will,
I don't want to know my bpm from my tracks, don't get the point of learning to mix with bpm !

LOL
a real dj doens't need to know the bpm,
he just in puts the tracks, lows down the bpm to minimum and then put the bpm the same as the actual playing track,
I played with turntables, actual hardware not connected to pc for two years so can mix,
but had to sell them needed the money too bad,
now I have a bit of money and the dj vibe is still a life so this mk2 is jut not enoug satisfaction but I don't want a bpm counter on my screen,
the intilligence of hearing the music and feeling which basslines fit together and are the same bpm , that is what mixing is about,
not software telling me what to do,
well everyone choise offcourse but I don't use the mk2 to play on parties so no bpm counter over there
but I have to look at the screen to see my time and that bpm is alyas so close to the' tiimebar' LOL
it annyos me,
but héy I can live with that,
thanx for the answer :)

I don't know what club you came from but back when I used vinyl I used to arrange my records by bpm and it would go from lowest to highest and we used the little dot markers for cue points, and turntables were suspended by rubberbands. When i use vdj I arrange it much the same way. I never use auto mix and continue to match much the same way as I did with vinyl vdj makes me more creative not replaceing my creativity. If you don't like the bpm counter open the xml and remove it.

What he is saying is, he needs a skin that doesn't show the current value of bpm to train his skills matching by ear. It's always a good practise, I do that often.
@Sideffect604:
As Cyder said, you can easily edit the xml yourself. Unzip your favourite skin, make a backup of zip file with different extension (i.e. .zip.backup) or in other directory, than open the xml with your text editor (notepad is fine). Search the word %Pbpm (there shouldn't be many matches), and look for a textzone line both under CHAN1 and CHAN2 that looks like this (values depending on skin design):
text font="verdana" size="12" color="#63D4E8" format="BPM: %Pbpm" scroll="no"
now just delete the %Pbpm on both channels, save the xml file, rezip it with it's .bmp and have a good time beatmatching by ear ;)
Regards.

I made a modified version of the Apopsis Timecode (1280x800 widescreen) skin some time back that allows both the BPM counters and waveform to be turned off. This is great for practising manual beat matching without being tempted to look at the on-screen helpers.

Oh how i miss the the old school days of mixing with vinyl , and how I loved hauling milk crates of records around. Two very light weight technics 1200's and one super light Crown DC300 Lol
But Thank Goodness for VirtualDj!!!!
@Sideffect604 is it that you don't really like it ? or you hate when other people see it there and think thats why ur blends are easy because of it? if so tell them to try it for themselves and give them 2 songs that VDJ didn't read right lol
By the way a "Real DJ" is just about anyone ,look at the definition for it. I'm sure what u meant was a
Pro DJ doesn't need it ....then you would be correct.
Dj Cyder is correct having it there makes it a lil faster to blend therefore giving you more time to be creative

I really hear what SideEffect is saying though, and I understand... There is a skin where you can click off the waveform -- the Pioneer 700 one... Just click on an icon on the panel on the top left, and the waveform goes away. Of course it's nice to have it there to match beats, especially tracks that are tricky to beatmatch, with unusual style (e.g. no kick drum on the 1)...
But, since I've discovered I can turn off the waveform, I usually have it off, and only turn it on if I'm having trouble finding the beat... I find it trains my ear much better, and I "feel" the music much more completely if the computer isn't telling me what's going on visually. When you "feel" the music, you develop a 6th sense about what other tracks would fit with the current one, and each other. This is what DJ'ing is all about, indeed, and I suggest everyone try it. I'm still using the BPM counters for now, but only because I'm relatively new to this, I'd like to get to the point where I don't need em :)

Dont be afraid to use dj aids that are made available, either in software or hardware ;)
Its there because its usefull and helpfull... and dont listen to anyone saying its "cheating"
Because the mix, timing, track choice and build of set is not made by any aid, but purely by the dj, and that is what counts, not how fast you could match the beats, or if you had help from a bpm counter or not... :)

thanx for the replies and the skin super
I agree dj in norway but you have to understsand I don't use the controller at parties to play so when you enter a party and don't have that option but are used to mixing with that option
you're srewed,
I think you can understand that ;)

I've tried this and couldn't manage to successfully pull it off. Could you possibly give instructions in lamens terms as I seem to be doing something wrong. I have winrar but when i try and open the skin it says "Invalid skin file (error line 0 in the xml). This would be much appreciated, thank you.
