话题: Hercules dj console: sound output too low?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hello, I see that besides me other people are using the device in clubs. I have used it in 2 clubs and in both I had the problem of the sound being too low. I had to put my LUL-level to 5 or more for the songs.

Even then I had to put the gain on the mixing panel to 10!

I use the first two connectors (when you look at the box from behind, you have a row of 3 x 2 connectors, front, back, rear or something like that). I use the front if I'm not mistaken.

Could that be the problem?

When I first attached the Console to my external mixer, I had the exact same problem. I fixed it, by pulling up the master to 100% in DJ Consoles Control Panel (that Green Alien Head thing). Since then it´s well leveled.

Hi,

I have a low output from the Console too. I connected it to my receiver via Toslink (optical output).

Problem is that I'm always on the 'road'. So different gear each time in different clubs. I have bought an RIAA amplifier, but that didn't work. Too heavy output.

I've asked the people of Hercules to do some research about it. But meanwhile I still have the problem :-(

Hi DJ Elof,

1) Can you precise whether the input on the mixing table you refer to are made for
- consumer line in (-10 dBu, which is DJ Console output level)
- professional line in (+4dBv, which is higher than DJ Console output level)?
If you use a line in made for +4dBv, you loose 12 dB.

=> Then you need a consumer to professional line level preamplifier, see paragraph 5.

2) Can you make sure your mixing table input is set for non balanced input?
In case your mixing table input is configured for balanced input, while DJ Console output in not balanced, you lose another 6 dB (in addition to the 12 dB lost between -10dBU and +4dBv).

3) Make sure you have not used a phono input on your mixing table since, as phono is not the impedance of the Dj Console, it won't be good ever.

4) Adding +4dB of digital gain in VirtualDJ will probably not help since, in case you saturate the DJ Console Dac, the sound will become ugly.

5) If your mixing tables need a professional level input (+4dBv), then you need a stereo preamplifier as:

PSP3 (battery powered)

Nad S100 (220-240V Power supply)

Art Tube MP Studio 3

There are also do it yourself preamplification kits, but I would not use 1 if I were to perform in clubs.

Examples:
No. 80-104 Stereo Preamplifier Kit

Short Circuit Project 12

Here is something else you might want to try....

If you have more than one sound card installed, even if your master volume (for your default sound card) is set to max volume, your other sound card(s) will not necessarily be set at max until you change them manually. The Hercules Console has an internal sound card in it, obviously. In Windows, it may not have made the HDJC the "default" sound card. Look at your sound properties in Control Panel (or, in XP, right click the sound icon in the system tray, and select "Adjust Audio Properties").

Next, click on the Audio tab. Under Sound Playback (the section on top), it will show you what your default sound card is. If it isn't Hercules DJ Console, select it from the drop down menu, and then click the Volume button. Increase your Master Volume (Wave wouldn't be a bad idea either) to the max. Close the volume window. Then click Apply. Then click OK. If you do this, whenever you plugin/unplug your HDJC, your volume will be at its max volume, regardless of whether it is the default sound card.
