Hi guys! I've been using virtual DJ in a refurbished Microsoft Surface tablet with the Haunting Pro Touch skin, which is a really good skin, and, paired with the tablet, makes any controller kind of look like a Stand-Alone unit.
While I love the skin, there are some things that aren't used that frequently, but use screen real estate with functionality that's already covered by the controller.
I'm not sure how much functionality one can add with custom buttons on a skin, and how much the skin can change based on those actions, but I'm fairly good at programming and design (amateur full-stack developer), so if it's possible, I think I'll find a way.
I would love to develop a skin that has a feel like the Denon or Pioneer stand-alones when used with a tablet, but I'm not sure if it's possible, and where to start (Maybe someone already tried and failed)
The functionality I would like to get is:
- Close to full-screen waveforms, with the miniature waveform as well.
- Status indicators of the effects and loops on the screen. When tapped, a menu to select options would show up. If controls for the effect parameters could pop up at the touch of a button to manipulate with the touchscreen, that would be awesome.
- On-screen Hotcue indicators with the name.
- Zoom in or out the waveform with the scrolling knob when in waveform mode, scroll through the library when the browser is open. (This is not vital, but I think it would look nice.)
Basically, I want to get something similar to what the Omnis Duo or the Denon DJ Prime has.
Do you think it's possible? Could you send me some pointers on where to start?
Thank you a thousand!

The XML of a controller skin i.e. Denon Prime 4 is mostly the same as a standard skin, so it's quite easy to modify an existing "remote" skin to work as a main skin.
Compare and contrast.

Thank you guys! Good ideas. This will give me some starting points.
I'll update if I manage to build something cool
