Depends what you use now, and which external mixer you would plan to use.
If you already use a decent sound card then in terms of sound quality you won't gain anything, since you just add an extra processing step in the mix.

The current soundcard in my pc is very basic, but does it matter to the mixing? I have decent equipment for playback, so that is not a concern.
I was more thinking in terms of the processing / audio capabilities. I would do a Denon x1850, for other reasons as well. But i wondered whether for the actual resulting audio quality (of the recorded mix) it would make a difference?

for recording as long as you use quality files to mix with the recording will be fine.
as for out of your speakers you would probably sounds better with a professional sound interface or the mixer you mention
