Now that i was made to update, i have lost my plugin - now the old process to install doesn't exist. How do i install my own plugin?

when you say "finally update" you probably switched over to modern 64-bit version of VirtualDJ.
That means you also need 64-bit plugins.
All defaults and standard ones, and many more are available to install from right inside the software.
Open the software settings and choose "Extensions"
