Not entirely sure what you meant by that... not automix and karaoke at same time i guess ;-)
So might be crossfader.
Can always try disable crossfader in settings, if you are manually controlling volume elsewhere

That's probably coming from incorrect Audio Setup, where Master & Headphones (prelisten) channels are sent to the same sound-card channels.
Can you provide further details about where speakers and headphones are connected to and what you have in VDJ Audio Setup ?
