Hi,
My portable hard drive is recognised by VDJ however when I open it I see no subfolders or tracks? I have tried to batch and add to search DB but not luck? any help im at my end now :)

Have you installed VirtualDJ from Apple store ?
If so, please download and re-install from https://www.virtualdj.com/download/index.html
If this still not working for you, visit System Preferences>Privacy & Security on your Mac and allow/check VirtualDJ to have access to Files/Folders/Drives

There is an `ignoreDrives` setting too (although whenever I type a drive name it disappears, so be curious if you got it working).

IgnoreDrives you need to do a bit of "registry hex" value, so not as easy as putting D: drive..
(been ages since used but dont think anything as changed in that regards)
For drive A, the value to use is 1
For drive B, the value to use is 2
...
For drive D, the value to use is 8
For drive E, the value to use is 16
Fir druve F, the value to use is 32
etc (double the value each letter step)
And to combine, say ignore drive D:, F: and I: the value to use would be 8+32+256 = 296
(And you can not ignore the master drive where the /documents/virtualdj/ are at)
