As far as your file is tag as karaoke the video skin disappears when played in a way to let the lyrics show
When in karaoke mode the karaoke screen (singer list) appears between tracks
karaoke_show can be used to force karaoke screen (singer list) when not in karaoke mode
I don't think there is a way to overlay a video skin on top of karaoke song when in karaoke mode
