话题: Keyboard focus- permanently map numpad

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I have something I am trying to do that should be relatively simple but so far has not been. First of all I normally do not use shortcuts and usually run these disabled. I am not the greatest typist and sometimes they have caused more headaches for me, this goes for any app including windows itself.

However, I would like to be able to assign specific keys to simple functions. This is more of a problem when I am streaming at home as I have a 5 screen system and I am usually running a few different things all at the same time. Here is the problem.

I never use the numeric pad on the right for anything at all. In my live rig it is all in a vertical rack with the laptop up above the mixer and the keyboard in the rack does not have the numpad on it as a full keyboard is more than 19 inches long. I have no room for a controller and the only thing I want is just play pause per deck. Simple enough and easy to do, and I always work with the 4 player skin, always have from the first day it was available. The problem is, as you know windows switches keyboard focus to whatever you clicked on last or the window you are currently working in.

What I want to do is permanently assign numpad keys to vdj so that no matter what else I may be doing on a different screen the numpad is linked to VDJ like its wired to it directly and nothing could ever change that. I have looked at a few programs like auto hotkey and eventghost to maybe set up macros but I know nothing of any kind of code at all.

I am sure there's a way to do this but I was wondering if there is a way to do it within vdj's own code. Problem is I don't understand scripting enough to know what I am looking for but all i want is to permanently assign lets say for example and ill keep this simple, play pause on num7 to deck one, num9 to deck 2, num1 to deck 3 lower left and num 3 to deck 4 lower right so that the keys match the physical layout and also are not close enough to a different function to accidentally fat finger something else
and this is easy enough and works great UNTIL I click on something else in a different screen. I want those keys assigned permanently so that no matter what I am doing elsewhere they always work those functions. This should be relatively easy.

Maybe I am missing something but so far I haven't been able to fix this to do what I want. Any advice or help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

Edit: just had a thought to add to this, as I mentioned earlier I have never used numpad for anything unless i was forced to by windows or some app. For this to work the way I would like it, it would also have to ignore shift or being in caps lock, not that I ever use lock for anything useful. Thanks

Forgive me for not reading it all

vdj has to be the focus for it to pay attention to the keyboard, AHK might be a work around but an auxiliary controller, reloop neon, launchpad might be a better solution.

I'm "not fit for purpose" right now, I'll fully read your post once the letters stop moving XD

I can definitely appreciate that and thanks for your reply :)

I have been working with both of those all night and I did come up with a thought. Now if vdj was seeing a "device" such as a controller or midi device then focus wouldn't matter. I have used the midi interface on my A&H QU16 and it works flawlessly and when I am live that's wonderful, but I really don't want my rack in the living room all the time or the extra mileage on me or it. So suppose a software "object" like a macro or whatever could be created to make vdj think its seeing a hardware device? At that point then all you would need is to pass the command straight thru from the keyboard to vdj. I'd really like a korg nanostudio or set of pads but that's just not in the budget right now and this should be a lot easier than it appears to be, either way I definitely thank you for looking at it and I am open for ideas.
