I am presently running Virtual DJ 8. I received a message that I have been updated to 2020. If I switch to 2020 will it still work with the Hercules DJ Controller RMX 2? Is there any potential of loosing any of my settings? Please tell me the pros and cons?

Yes, and you shouldn't lose anything
If you have been updated (because you have accepted the update) I guess there is nothing left to do but test the new version
If you haven't accepted the new version yet, then you can backup your /documents/virtualdj folder first. That's where the database, settings and all the playlists are, and so on
You can do this either manually or by using the backup feature inside VDJ
Regardless if you are upgrading or not these kinds of backups are always a good idea to do on a regular basis
