话题: I don't know is this possible?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

From the study I have done I can't see a way to do this.

To have a stack of phrases, ( usable as loops ), and one shots, ranging from 1 beat to possibly 32 beats, that I can use to mash up a song or songs, playing in one or two of the main decks. I would like to be able to load these as sets into the remix decks a la Traktor. And when I trigger any of them they are quantized to, or snap to the beat of the master deck and optionally play from to the nearest cue point.

Is this possible in any way shape or form in VDJ8?

The closest way I can think of doing this is to have the phrases organized in my library in sets and pull out the phrases 1 at a time and load into decks 3 & 4, with decks 1 & 2 used for the full songs being played. It's a lot more work though.

I think I would have already bought a Traktor S4 Mk2 and run with the Traktor Pro software if only they had the online content that VDJ8 has available, because I'm going to be needing that more importantly.

Cheers.

Thanks Phantom, that sounds reasonable.

Hey if doing what you said Phantom, will the master track pick up from where it left off before the sample was triggered, or does it keep progressing underneath the sample, then when the sample is finished it plays from where ever that is? Or are both possible?

That sample (remix) set you can see in the manual pointed out by the Phantom is downloadable from the addons along with many more. It is an excellent FREE sample set which works well. I don't know if it is installed by default nowadays? You can of course make your own sets using a drum machine or daw. In practice I prefer this approach over the Traktor remix decks, and sets which I think are more difficult to use. When under pressure I like big buttons, and knobs plus simple procedures. Each to his own. I implement the VDJ sampler using a Traktor F1 which I also use with Traktor remix sets and software.

The VDJ cbg is critical, if it is correct a looped.. say kick drum sample can be seamlessly faded in or out in sync. It works brilliantly. Hence the master deck track simply has a new element which is overlayed. Multiple faders are a sub controller requirement in my eyes to bring in the drums, high hats and whatever else, my Traktor F1 has 4 which is all I need.

I don't understand perfectly what you mean, but:

On VirtualDj there's always a "master" deck. The sampler follows the BPM and grid of that deck (even if the deck volume drops to 0%)
If the master deck is stopped while the sampler is running, the sampler will keep working with it's own internal clock which is set to what was the last parameters pulled out from the master deck (in other words it will keep the BPM and grid of the deck you stopped)
If the sampler is fired while NO deck is playing, then sampler clock will default to 120BPM
When you change tempo of the master deck, sampler follows accordingly. Same rule applies if you do a cut mix between two different BPM's. Sampler will automatically pick up and keep working on the new BPM as soon as the masterdeck changes.

PS: On your copy of VirtualDj 8 there's a sampler bank called instruments. You can use that bank in order to understand how sampler works.
Remember that on that bank all kick drums are on the same group. This means that only one kick drum sample may be playing at a time. Same rule applies for hi hats & snare.
If you would want to be able to play 2 different kick drums at the same time then they would have to be on different groups, or to not belong at any group at all...

Thanks guys, Hey Bigron, How does the F1 connect? Is it only via USB to the computer? Or also via midi to the controller?
I was thinking of adding one later on for just what you described, but the controllers I am looking at have no hardware inputs at all, except the traktor s4 mk2.

I regard the VDJ 8 sampler as one of the great improvements over the older VDJ 7 and it's a viable alternative to Traktor remix decks. In fact I don't even feel much of a need to utilize the Traktor sequencer. Things can get too complicated when working in a live evironment.

I use more than one controller, and my F1 is just for the VDJ sampler, and it's just another usb midi connection. You can use as many controllers as you like but I suppose at some point things would overload. I'm happy using two controllers and the keyboard. I can modify the mappings to suit my needs.

No, but you can have Sidelist at the bottom and Automix at the side so you have two lists active.

You need to go to settings and enable "showHorizontalSideList" to yes then restart the software.
