What is the difference between program builds and program versions? For example, VDJ had Version 8, 8.1 and 8.2. Within these versions there were various builds (3880 etc). My question is what changes make a version change, 8.0 to 8.1, as opposed to a build within that version?

A version change is usually something major including new features. Hasn't been anything for a while and only incremental updates so I would guess they are working on the next big build at the moment.
