话题: Nightmare at last night's gig

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I had spent a couple of hours preparing a Virtual Folder (with sub-folders) filled with all the songs I'd need for my gig last night. 30 minutes in, I right click my Virtual Folder and go to "Recurse," however my finger slipped on the trackpad and I clicked "Delete." Poof, just like that, the virtual folder was gone.

WHY IS THERE NO Y/N CONFIRMATION BEFORE DELETING A VIRTUAL FOLDER AND ALL ITS CHILDREN? The option to delete is right next to "Recurse" with just a gray separator between the two. I'm sure I can't be the only one who has ever accidentally clicked Delete instead, it's 30 pixels away.

After a few minutes of panicking, I checked the Mac trash can, and sure enough, the virtual folders had been moved in there. I restored them. Unfortunately, VDJ wouldn't see them. The software needed a restart before it would re-detect them, which was not an option with a full dance floor.

I was able to open the files in TextEdit and parse through them manually, then search for the songs, but there really should be some way to re-detect Virtual Folders without restarting the software. I have this issue inserting external drives as well - VDJ needs a restart before it will read the Virtual Folders off external drives.

Anyhow, just wanted to share my experience. Hopefully nobody else goes through this.

On Windows this is an option of the Recycle Bin (right click recycle-bin, properties, and check/uncheck 'display delete confirmation'
I'm not at my mac right now, I'm not sure if there's something similar on mac?

Unfortunately no such option exists on Mac. Finder can give you a confirmation before emptying the trash, but not before placing files into it.

Even if a system option existed, I still maintain that this should be a dialog from Virtual DJ, similar to when you try to load a song into a deck that's currently playing.

when I read your problem, I thought you were referring to this (see pic)

I can see how you can click on delete Virtual Folder first before Recurse.

I think the RECURSE should be on top like everywhere else I've seen.

im not aware of any such feature on mac as the trash can seems to be more of a general folder than a seperate trash can app.

It would seem like a good idea to have a confirm delete in vdj!

I always have a back up player when I gig, so if I need to reboot iits not a problem
