Hey guys,
I'm a noob at things like copyrights and legal issues for mixes. I like to just bring random deep house music and mix them into a playlist. Can I uplaod those 2-3 hours-playlists on Youtube or stream the music live on Twitch.tv by purchasing a subscription to ContentUnlimited ? Thanks in advance :)

Content Unlimited does not get it's music from YouTube. So if you are using YouTube music, you are violating their policies, which is illegal in most countries. If you are making recordings of mixes, it is usually illegal to post on YouTube, unless you have permission from the artist. YouTube or the artist may ask that the mix be taken down.

So.. I have to contact each an every artist featured on my playlist before posting it? Sounds like a lot of work. Do all DJs on Youtube do that? Or is there a better way?

I believe it depends on the label the track is distributed under.
Some labels have an agreement with Youtube so that they get a share of the advertisements shown on youtube when watching your videos.
But other labels may indeed decide that their tracks cannot be played on youtube at all.

Have a search on Google. There will be lots of info on music copyright (for DJs and in general).

What country are you in?

Laws vary between countries, but the main thing is that someone else owns the music, not you. When you buy it, you are only buying the right to play & listen to it yourself in private - not to play it in public, record it, modify it (mix it with something else) or share it (upload) unless you are licensed to do so.

Organisations such as DMC have legal (paid for) licensed rights to create mixes/remixes and sell them. The average DJ making a mix and sharing it online doesn't have any rights to do so and is acting illegally - both in recording it and sharing it.
