So my question to you guys is I have a Hercules DJ console 4-mx controller and a 7-band equalizer from Radio Shack, yes it's that old but gets the job done for basic events and parties that I do but now I want to step my game up and I'm looking into becoming a DJ for a online radio station so my question is should I upgrade my controller and EQ to a more updated one or stick with it until it goes out on me? Just seeing what is the best equipment for online DJ, thanks for your help.

I always seem to be at odds with myself, I guess it's the Gemini in me. I like to suck all of the juice out of my equipment and hold on to it until it dies. It's just the way I was brought up. On the other hand, why wait until it breaks, if I can get something technologically superior, easier to use, and less to carry? It's a constant fight, and I have to make a decision. You know you have gotten your monies worth and then some. You know it's time to upgrade, but can't bring yourself to throwing away a perfectly good piece of equipment (you might get $5.00 for it on ebay, but don't hold your breath). So, in the end, only you can make that decision. Good luck.
P.S. I still have some old equipment, that I can't even give away, and some that I have given away, just to use that space it was occupying. Sadly, some has been thrown away, it is what it is.

Should you upgrade? Well, ask yourself - do you need to upgrade?
What made you post the question? Are you feeling limited by what you have? Are you longing for some feature that your kit doesn't have, or can you still DJ just fine with it?
