I am trying to use the virtualfolder_add script specifically virtualfolder_add "sort/up" but every time I add a song then add a song to a different folder say virtualfolder_add "sort/down" and the software restarts completely? is there any way to prevent this?

hmm i am going to follow this as well. My problem is every time i try to use the pads on my controller it restarts. Different problem but the same result.

Both crashes were not related, but both will be fixed in the next update.
The virtualfolder_add bug probably only occurred when there were no files in the virtual folder yet.
The pad crash occurred on controllers with no definition file (detected as generic midi device)
