Topic: PRACTICE, LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Me personally, I put in an average 15 hours per week of practice, because this is my full time profession.

So tell me, how many hours of practice on average you put in yourself?

What do you work on to make yourself a better DJ?

Be honest!

With a full time job, teaching/training martial arts 3 nights a week and trying to have a personal life. My gigs are my practice times.

However, in the few cases where I do have sometime and fire up the gear at home. I typically just practice the basics and learning to mix new tracks I have downloaded and getting to know them.

PRACTICE ???? three residencies going I am out five to six nites a week have precious few hours to myself to spend with my beautiful wife. We do talk music and downloading. If she comes up with an idea we pull the MTP out and try to put the mix together but that's about as much practice I get.

This is my full time profession. Practice is usually at the residency

between college, job, personal life, and my "me time"

like four hours a week

Good stuff, I now consider myself a mobile/ radio DJ, because all my club/lounge events are either thrown by me or guest spots now. I'm happy to say, I've been and still being booked on a regular basis. Yet during the day, I am home when the family is at work and school, so I take the time to stay sharp.

Everybody life is different and it always great to see how others get in time for this great passion!

Wow, I actually practice at least 2 hours every day with few exceptions. But my day job is only a few hours and I'm only working as a DJ once or twice a month right now, luckily I don't work my day job on weekends at all, so I find time for recording or post sessions then and still find time to practice my DJ sets. Of course, if I decide to go to school next fall that all gets scratched;^]

I play out 22 hours a week, and occasionally do other performances. I prob practice 2-5 hours a week on average. I spend more time looking for tracks. I finally have a decent setup at home, so I'm hoping to get more practice in. I'd really like to graduate to the next level.

With a full time job and another part time job, no time for practic, my gigs are my practice times.

I wish I had gigs so all I do is practice. I have a full time job and wife works 6 to midnight and I watch my 1 year old son in that time. I try and practice twice a week on week days after the wife is home and I try to treat Friday and Saturday night as gigs. This is where I will record what I'm doing and make a mix tape out of it. Until I can get out there to start getting gigs then I will continue to practice.

After 37 years DJing and 11 years self employed freelance Professional DJ, don't think I need any practice.

Occasionally I check the tracklist.txt file in the Tracklisting folder to make sure I'm not getting repetitive.

if i'm breathing, i'm practicing. all I think about in my minds clear time is music. I wake up with it in my head, I get earworms bad and can't get them out till I figure out the next song. practicing mixing to me is thinking of what the next mix is and how the crowd will react.

I practice on new songs. Anyone can just blend it from the beginning but, If I want a mix to sound nice and tight, I go thru the track and mark cue points based where I think is best for me to start blending it in. I always get ideas when I hear a new track being played on the radio and think of what other track I can mix it with. Another key thing is How you have you library setup. I have been dj ing since 1985 and I still practice. All songs start different and its good to go thru a songs and know the good parts. When you Dj so many genres, You have to go thru a lot of tracks and prepare them into your sets.

never have time to practice, I play by ear when im in the club. I listen to radio, soundcloud, and mixtapes all of this helps me with new songs.

now if i was entering a dj battle then practice will be mandatory at least 2 hours per day... but my battle days are over

Same as Caliente. I practice on New Songs. Cue Points and Loops. See How they will fit on my current set. is it a clean or dirty track? Warm up Song? Club banger? is there a nice hook I can use? Is there a 2 or 1Bar instrumental (not too busy) I can use or sample? Best for blending? Where is the right spot to cut? any possible kick as mashup?

With my FT job, I tried my best to give it at least 3hrs a week, even when I do not have any gig that week. I am gonna have to create more time, after I feel confident on my beat making skillz for making remix for Live performance only.
