Hi everyone, sorry if this is the wrong page!?
im a newly converted vinyl to PC dj..need some help..
Ive got 2 soundcards..one being for master Audigy Xfi-platinum..and secondary generic USB external card 4.1 ( for use with cue/ headphones)
Ive got the latest drivers for both...installed the secondary SC, but what im finding is that theres a small lag when listening/cueing
Basically I put the second track on deck 2 drop it in and it sounds ever so slightly faster in my headphones to what actually plays...this happens in either case...if im cuing..or simply listening to one deck on both master and secondary..
its like the soundcards arent playing at the same speed..
My external card cost me £30 and seems ok on its own..so does my internal card...does anyone have any ideas what i can do to bring them both into alignment so when i crossfade in....so i get an accurate representation of what i was listening to in cue ( if that makes sense?)
Ive tried to fiddle with the performance settings..to no avail!
Plz help...id like to get back mixing again after a while off the plastic!
Peace all..Emj!

Your problem is caused by the fact you are using different soundcards and they have different latencies. See if you can set the latency from the card where the sound is ahead of the other a little higher. If there's no latency-setting, it might be called buffer(size). A bigger buffer means a longer latency.
If you can't ajust the latency or buffersize, consider buying a multi-channel soundcard so you can have the master and headphones on 1 card.

Thanks for your message...i think my Xfi-platinum is a multi channel..but havent been able to get split sound (cue and deck) on the card+ front drive)
I got the latest drivers...
my xfi seems the slow one...im wondering do you think offering exclusive access to the PCI bus will help?
my external is USB into USB 2.
thanks again...
anyone else too?

Didn't check..... Yes, the X-Fi Platinum is a multi channel card. In the audio-setup in VDJ you need to select Headphones in the middle field and your 4.1-card in the lower field. Behind that lower field you can select which outputs to use for Master and which for headphones.
This is my home-setup. In your case in the lines behind the "4.1 Card" you have to select your own card....
However: This won't work if you haven't set your PC's audio setup to a 4-speaker config. In your system tray there's a symbol that leads you to your audio-setup. If you open that, you should be able to set your speakers to 4-speaker setup. For example again my setup:
The reason is that VDJ's audio config relies on info that Windows is providing. So if your PC is setup to handle 2 speakers, VDJ will too.
