So I just recently started Djing with my Idj3 and so far I love It! I love the turntables, the program, everything. but as I was on youtube the other day i came across this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EirvPRS_j1I The thing that captured my attention was that the scratching sounds like a real vinyl record being scratched. The program window looks like the VDJ window and it got me thinking "How do i set up VDJ to sound like this and if theres a better program for scratching what is it?" If you can answer either of these questions then please feel free to comment below. Peace and much love to ya

you need to change the default scratch latency, there is a tool that I think is only available to pro users, but you should be able to manually modify the registry values...
just open the start menu, then type "regedit" in the search box...
then once you okay the security, you need to open the filepath to virtual dj, shown down the bottom of the image. when you locate DefaultscratchLatency double click it
then finally when you have double clicked it will open a window, first change the value to decimal, then enter the latency you desire. mine is actually set to 960, this is just to show you what was recommended by cstoll
this was done on a 32bit windows 7 starter netbook, i can't imagine it would be any different on any other windows OS

Oh, and keep your Ahhh, Fresh and other scratchy samples as uncompressed .WAV files rather than mp3s, it'll sound better and less "digital" during the scratch.

Good advice. My scratch samples are in mp3 format and it never occurred to me to use a non-compressed format for better sound... makes total sense and I don't know why I didn't think of that (duh!). I'm totally gonna try that :)
